Supporting Good Causes

We value the service we can give to make our communities stronger.

Every year, Companion Systems supports multiple causes in the community. Two of the most recent activities that Companion employees participated in were the Komen Race for the Cure and the JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes.

Komen Race for the Cure

The Komen Race for the Cure supports the Susan G. Komen for the Cure fight against breast cancer. With survivors and activists in 125 cities and communities, more than 100 Komen Race for the Cure® events in the United States and three International Affiliates, Susan G. Komen for the Cure is the most progressive grassroots organization fighting breast cancer today.

With more than 100,000 survivors and activists dedicated to the fight against breast cancer, the Komen Affiliate Network is the nation's largest private funder of community-based breast health education and breast cancer screening and treatment programs.

Thanks to events like the Komen Race for the Cure, nearly $1 billion has been invested toward their goal, becoming the largest source of nonprofit funds dedicated to the fight against breast cancer in the world.

JDRF

The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation is the leading charitable funder and advocate of type 1 (juvenile) diabetes research worldwide.

As a company we were recognized at a JDRF dinner as one of the top 3 contributors to the 2007 event with the amount of money we raised as a company - over $11,000.

The mission of JDRF is to find a cure for diabetes and its complications through the support of research. Type 1 diabetes is a disease which strikes children suddenly and requires multiple injections of insulin daily or a continuous infusion of insulin through a pump. Insulin, however, is not a cure for diabetes, nor does it prevent its eventual and devastating complications which may include kidney failure, blindness, heart disease, stroke, and amputation.

Since its founding in 1970 by parents of children with type 1 diabetes, JDRF has awarded more than $1 billion to diabetes research, including more than $122 million in FY2006. In FY2006, the Foundation funded 500 centers, grants and fellowships in 20 countries.
